about

With an overriding message of finding strength in the face of adversity, ‘Walk Alone’ sheds light on the aftermath of being sexually assaulted. The song is an imagined response to an apology she received in 2020, ten years after the transformative incident.

lyrics

It's your fault
What you did to me
And all the shit that happened after that
In the aftermath
Manipulated, my legs were coiled on the ropes that we swung on as kids
I couldn't break free

So, I lied to hide the twisted truth
I attacked to defend my youth

(Walk alone through a pitch black year)
I was nineteen before I found my feet
(Walk alone to find your feet)
I walked alone

I lost two best friends that night
Such a storm of terrible decisions
Pulled the rug from under my heart
On a park bench swallowed by stars
The same song, 12 hours on repeat

Say what you need to say
But it would always have been too late

(Walk alone through a pitch black year)
I was nineteen before I found my feet
(Walk alone to find your feet)
I walked alone
(Walk alone through a pitch black year)
I was nineteen before I found my feet
(Walk alone to find your feet)
I walked alone

My body was your ammo
But our lips never touched
My body was your ammo
But our lips never touched

Would you believe it?
If I told you the truth?
You didn't know my strength
When you killed it.
